Shakespeare in the Vines
Essential Theatre is proud to be celebrating their 16th summer of Shakespeare in the Vines, a tour of Shakespeare's classics, and Crittenden Estate is delighted to be hosting the group as they visit the Mornington Peninsula to perform Twelfth Night. These passionate theatre makers re-interpret the classic texts for modern audiences, guaranteeing you a night to remember. The cast of 8 professional actors will take you on a joyful ride, as Crittenden Estate transfroms into the magical land of Illyria...
After a raging shipwreck, Viola finds herself washed ashore, separated from her twin brother Sebastian, and alone on the beach of Illyria. This town is famililar, but somewhat strange - a dreamland where music is the food of love, and nobody is quite what they seem.
We invite you to join this journey with Viola, be delighted by the unforgettable characters and thrilled by the adventures that this strange yet wonderful land has to offer. Shakespeare beautifully balances the angusih of unrequited love, and the high spirit of clever comedy in this hilarious tale, Twelfth Night.
You will need to bring your own seating - either a picnic rug or some kind of low deck chair. You are welcome to bring your own picnic and there will also be food available for purchase. We must emphasize - NO BYO ALCOHOL.
A range of Crittenden wines will of course be available by the glass and bottle as you settle in for an afternoon of joy and entertainment on the rolling lawns overlooking the Estate's picturesque lake.
