Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream has been loved for over four hundred years and continues to weave its spell worldwide.
Crittenden Estate is delighted to again be hosting the Essential Theatre Group as they celebrate their 17th summer of Shakespeare in the Vines. These passionate theatre makers re-interpret the classic texts for modern audiences, guaranteeing you a night to remember.
You will be taken on a spell binding ride, as the grounds of Crittenden Estate transforms into the magical land of Athens.
On a Midsummer’s night, four young lovers find themselves wrapped in the dream-like arms of an enchanted forest where sprites play and fairies rule. The course of true love is anything but smooth, and games of fantasy, love and dreams ensue in Shakespeare’s most wondrous comedy.
Bring the whole family, as this one delights and tickles everyone’s imagination!
BYO picnic rug or small chair and settle in for a summer evening of fun, theatrics, food and wine.
Food Available to Purchase:
This year we have teamed up with Andy from The Filling Station in Mornington to provide you with an array of food options that will complete your Shakespeare experience perfectly. If you want the ease of not having to pack a picnic basket then click on the links below to read more about each item and purchase it for collection on the day. Still worried about going hungry? Additional food will be available at the event which will include items such as piadinas as well as some simple options for kids such as ham and cheese toasties, sausage rolls and mango licks.
Other Important details:
You are welcome to bring your own picnic and there will also be food available for purchase. We must emphasize - NO BYO ALCOHOL.

A range of Crittenden wines will of course be available by the glass and bottle as you settle in for an afternoon of joy and entertainment on the rolling lawns overlooking the Estate's picturesque lake.
Children 5 and under are free of charge.
Gates open at 4pm and the performance will begin at 5pm.
Tickets will be emailed and can be printed and shown on the afternoon. Alternatively you can have your tickets ready on your phone when you arrive. Tickets are unable to be posted to you. Receipts for food must be printed and handed in to collect your food.
There is no formal seating available, please bring your own low chair or picnic blanket.
Please note that this is an all weather performance and an extreme weather contingency plan has been arranged should it be required. There will be no refunds on ticket sales.
Pre-ordered food items will need to be placed by Sunday January 6th.
