Another Savagnin article!

You may well be tiring of our frequent write ups regarding the Cri de Coeur Savagnin… This one’s a cracker though and well worth a look. Campbell Mattinson, recently appointed chief editor of the Halliday Wine Companion, has written the attached feature article which was inspired by a recent vertical tasting of our Savagnins. This insightful piece explains the accidental origins of the wine through to where the project stand today – a story which he compares to the rise of the iconic Australian wine Grange!

He also states…

“This wine is not only different, and stellar, it has the ability to stop you in your tracks, and make you think. It’s like a piece of art; it asks questions of you, as you ask questions of it.”

The article appears in the Feb/March edition of The Halliday Magazine which is about to hit the newsagent stands any day now…

Just a note – the current vintage of the Savagnin – 2017 – is all but sold out. 2018 will be released around August this year.

The Zumma Chardonnay receives merit

In late November Huon Hooke's The Real Review launched a new Wine Classification system and our Zumma Chardonnay was announced as a "one merit wine".

We were delighted to know that across vintages this wine has reliably reached gold and silver status and as such is being recognised for its consistency. A wonderful accomlishment that gives further confidence to our customers that The Zumma Chardonnay is a reliable one to choose year in and year out!

Halliday Article in The Weekend Australian Magazine

This year we are celebrating 40 years in the wine industry. On a blustery weekend in September we gathered a bunch of unsuspecting friends and family and convinced them to spend two days planting five acres of vines. Their payment? A lunch provided by matriarch Marg, plus the satisfaction of being a part of something that would be the source of much pleasure for years to come; both for those who enjoy Crittenden wines but also for the now extended family and wider team who are a part of the operation.

It was by pure coincidence that on the actual weekend, quite literally, an article appeared in The Weekend Australian Magazine by James Halliday. James reflected on the evolution of Crittenden since 1982 and captured our spirit of change and sustainability beautifully.

He also provided three impressive wine reviews, including 96 points for the new 2020 Cri de Coeur Pinot Noir. You can read each wine review below:
