Cri de Coeur Wine Release 2023

The Crittenden Cri de Coeur Wines are our most highly awarded and nationally recognised wines.

We are releasing our new Cri de Coeur Savagnin, Macvin, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines to the public on Thursday, 1 August 2023.

Given the popularity and demand for these four wines, we will also host a series of Masterclass tastings at the Crittenden Wine Centre on Saturday 19 August. 

Each seated class will run for approximately one hour and will be hosted by Rollo Crittenden. They will involve a deep dive into the style and making of the four wines that make up this range. Price includes the tasting along with a cheese shared cheese plate for two. Tickets are limited and sell out quickly - members check your inbox for special members offer.

A New Catto to Share With You

In 2020, Rollo secured a parcel of Nero d'Avola grapes from Mildura. Knowing how much Dad loves Italian wine and working with Italian varietals, Rollo suggested Garry have a play and see what he could create.

Hence Catto was born. Originating from Avola on the island of Sicily, Nero d'Avola is bright, fresh and elegant. 

The wine was named in honour of our Mum, Margaret Crittenden's family heritage, specifically her great-grandfater Ricardo Catt, who was actually Ricardo Catto (Catt was the anglicised version), and this image found in a family photo album which belonged to Margaret.

This artistic impression of red grapes being hand harvested and hand pressed made the perfect image for a label, and it now has more meaning for the family knowing Margaret had Italian heritage.

The 2020 Catto proved very popular, and we're excited to release another vintage of this wine, the 2022 Catto Nero d'Avola.

Taste Our New Cri de Coeur Wines With Rollo & Matt

If you were unable to make it to the Crittenden Wine Centre for the Cri de Coeur Wine Release Masterclass, you can now taste through each wine with our winemakers, Rollo Crittenden and Matt Campbell online via the video below.

Once you've purchased the latest release Cri de Coeur wines, open them up, pour a glass and even share a glass with your favourite wine people at home as you take a journey through each wine.

Rollo and Matt will tell you about how they made the wine, some of the challenges they encountered during the growing season and what inspired them to make each Cri de Coeur wine.
