We are incredibly excited to share that our 2020 Cri de Coeur Sous Voile Savagnin has been named one of three finalists for White Wine of the Year in The RealReview Top Wineries of Australia 2026 Awards.

From Huon Hooke:

“There is an embarrassment of riches in Australian wine and winemaking and the field is vast, which means that to be selected as a finalist is all the more meaningful….
The most important criterion is that the finalists are worthy and these finalists are more than deserving….These people and these wines have impressed all of us greatly throughout the year.” The Real Review Top Wineries Finalists Announced

Over the past two decades we’ve embraced sustainable viticultural practices, introduced top grafting with new clones, and adopted cane pruning techniques, all key to the evolution of our winemaking. In 2012 we launched our super premium Cri de Coeur (Cry of the Heart) label, crafted in tiny quantities to express the pinnacle of our viticultural and winemaking journey that spans more than 40 years and two generations.

Tasting Notes

This wine displays many of the desired nutty aldehyde characters that can be expected after prolonged ageing under flor. A complex array of flavours, amongst them preserved lemon, grilled nuts and exotic spice. A palate of tremendous breadth and length with mouth filling chalky texture and persistent acid drive.

Best Paired With

Comté cheese

Media Reviews

If there’s a wine/style I look forward to every year, it’s this one. The ’20 spent 48 months in old oak barriques, under a protective seal of flor slowly morphing into a complex, dry and stunning drink. Flavours from Turkish dried apricots (no sweetness) dried porcini, blood orange peel, salted caramel and preserved salty lemons, yet it's so fresh. There’s a sensation of richness with aldehydic aromas and flavours, yet plenty of acidity driving this, not just the flor-yeast characters. Finishes very dry and very, very long.
Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
Deep, rich golden/amber colour revealing considerable age. The bouquet is a shock of richness and matured complexities, among them dried fruits, barley-sugar, buttered toast, salty seaspray and a waft of flor yeast character. In the mouth it's rich and full bodied, with amazing depth of flavour delivered with power and impact. The finish is dry and reverberates around the mouth for minutes. An extraordinary wine. Serve with mature Comté cheese.
