Tasting Notes

PALATE

Bright fruit, fragrant aromatics and fine grain tannins that carry the palate beautifully.

Garry's Projects

Although in semi-retirement, Garry Crittenden continues to make the wines he loves to drink. Each year he sets aside a small parcel of Pinot Noir from the vines he planted himself in 1982 and makes a single barrel his own way, without intervention. Every release carries a new name, a new label and a new story, most of them drawn from a piece of art that has caught his eye.

THE LABEL

The 2024 release is titled Anatomy, inspired by a drawing his grandson Finn, now 19, created when he was just four. "Finn spent hours crafting his interpretation, a vibrant, multicoloured skeleton complete with clearly defined bones and organs, an expressive, imaginative reflection of an early understanding of the human body," says Garry. Perhaps it was the process rather than the product that struck Garry, but as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

THE WINE

Made from 114 and 115 clone Pinot Noir from the Crittenden family's sustainably farmed vineyard, which Garry himself planted in the 1980s. This small batch Pinot expresses bright fruit, fragrant aromatics and fine grain tannins that carry the palate beautifully. Exceptionally limited, with only one barrel produced.
